Trip to Cairns

We started off to Cairns during Easter holidays. The Tiger Airways flight was delayed by 3 hours at Tullamarine airport. After long wait and 2 hours of flight journey we reached Cairns at 5 AM in the morning.

Cairns is a major tourist destination in Queensland, Australia possessing lush rainforests, big rivers and the Great Barrier Reef just off the coast. It also boasts beautiful scenery due to the wonderful tropical conditions which keeps everything lush and green.

Cairns is a place of sunshine, hard partying, warm weather year-round and plenty of backpackers seeking to have great time. It is also renowned of its great nightlife as well as its adventure activities like bungee jumping, skydiving and white water rafting.

Cairns is located around 1700km from Brisbane in Queenslands northern Coast. Most people either travel by plane, or travel up the coast via car. Cairns is a popular backpacking destination.

Visiting the Daintree Rainforest was a great activity for the whole team. Although we were interested to snorkel or dive into the Great Barrier Reef, but due to inexperience in swimming we had to be satisfied with the Sea Walker (comes in separate package). Cairns truly is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.

We  went on an aboriginal walking tour with the skyrail giving great access to areas of the rainforests that we wouldn't be able to reach otherwise. The beaches are white and sandy with Palm Cove Beach and Trinity Beach being the most popular. During the months of November to May you will need to wear stinger suits to protect yourself. We also visited the Harteley Croc Farm, did Bungee Jumping and rode on Quad Bike.

The entertainment levels are very high at Cairns. It was a nice visit. The entire cost per head for 4 days stay at cairns along with the flight cost was around $1700 AUD.

Hope you have a great time over there as well.
